Analytics & Tracking
Understand how your links are performing with detailed analytics, charts, and UTM campaign tracking
Dashboard Overview
Your dashboard provides a quick snapshot of your link performance with four key stat cards displayed at the top of the page:
Total Links
Total Clicks
Links This Month
Clicks This Month
- Total Links: The total number of short links you have created across your account

UTM Parameters for Campaign Tracking
UTM (Urchin Tracking Module) parameters are tags you add to your destination URLs that allow you to track exactly where traffic comes from in Google Analytics or other analytics tools. EziLinks makes it easy to add UTM parameters when creating or editing links.
The 5 UTM Parameters
utm_source
Identifies where the traffic comes from - the site, platform, or publication sending visitors to your link.
Examples: facebook, newsletter, google, instagram, linkedin
utm_medium
Identifies the marketing medium or channel type used to share the link.
Examples: social, email, cpc, banner, affiliate
utm_campaign
Identifies the specific campaign name, promotion, or strategic initiative.
Examples: summer_sale, product_launch_2025, black_friday, weekly_newsletter
utm_term
Identifies paid search keywords. Primarily used for paid search campaigns to record which keyword triggered your ad.
Examples: running+shoes, buy+now, url+shortener
utm_content
Used to differentiate similar content or links within the same ad or campaign. Useful for A/B testing.
Examples: logolink, textlink, hero_banner, sidebar_cta
Adding UTM Parameters to Your Links
UTM parameters are added via the link creation or editing modal:
- Go to Links and create or edit a link
- In the toolbar at the bottom of the modal, click the UTM button
- Fill in the UTM fields you need (source, medium, campaign are recommended at minimum)
- Click Create link or Save changes
The UTM parameters are automatically appended to your destination URL when someone clicks the short link.

https://example.com/sale and you add UTM parameters, the final URL becomes:
https://example.com/sale?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=summer_sale
Best Practices for Analytics & Tracking
1. Use Consistent UTM Naming Conventions
Develop a standard naming system for your UTM parameters and stick to it. Use lowercase, underscores instead of spaces, and consistent terminology. For example, always use facebook (not Facebook, fb, or FB).
2. Track Campaigns with Separate Links
Instead of using one link everywhere, create separate short links for each channel and campaign. This lets you compare performance across Facebook, email, print, and other channels side by side.
3. Review Analytics Regularly
Check your dashboard and per-link analytics at least weekly. Look for trends, identify your top-performing links, and use the data to inform future campaigns and content strategies.
4. Use Descriptive Link Names
Give your links clear, descriptive titles (e.g. "Summer Sale - Instagram Bio" rather than "Link 1"). This makes it much easier to identify links in your analytics and Top 10 table.
5. Leverage Geographic and Device Data
Use country, city, and device analytics (Creator Pass) to understand your audience. If most visitors are on mobile, ensure your landing pages are mobile-optimised. If traffic comes from specific regions, consider localising your content.
6. Export Data for Deeper Analysis
Use the CSV export feature to download your analytics data. Import it into spreadsheets or business intelligence tools for custom reporting and cross-referencing with other data sources.
